Dear Friends,

We entered the holy season of Lent by celebrating Ash Wednesday worship at Seminary Church this past week. What an incredible way of beginning the Lenten season and our preparations for Holy Week and Easter.

This Sunday is the first Sunday of Lent. I pray that you will be able to join us for worship and our monthly all church potluck after worship. Many other wonderful things are happening at Seminary Church and I'd like to take a moment to catch everyone up.

1. Our "Holy Week Journey to Hope" sermon series continues this Sunday as we "celebrate" Palm Sunday in worship and our preaching time. This sermon series is one that I pray we will all find is an inspiring journey filled with new insights and new learnings about the most important week in the Christian experience - Holy Week.

2. After worship we will be celebrating our monthly "all church potluck!" The fellowship is wonderful and the food scrumptious!! Join us for some quality time with the Seminary Church family.

3. I am so proud of Seminary Church! This morning I delivered 53 Haiti Health Kits to Sonrise Church in Fort Wayne during the Northeast District pastor's meeting! Way to go Seminary! It was an awesome experience last Sunday to pray over the kits. The prayers of the people from the congregation who prayed over the kits last Sunday were eloquent and heartfelt. I don't know about the rest of you, but I certainly felt the power of the Holy Spirit infusing our worship time with grace, love, and mercy.

4. Don't forget that our parenting Bible Study starts this Sunday:
Parenting - 10 Biblical Traits Your Kids/Grandkids Will Remember You For
A Lenten Video Driven Bible Study
Do any of the following comments match your feelings about parenting/grandparenting?
“I just feel like I spend 99% of my time trying to get everybody to behave.”
“We’re both consistently inconsistent”
“I work so hard a twork….by the time I get home I am just pooped.”
“Everything is about the tv.”
It seems like you’ve got such a limited time when you can really shape them before they get into that (drug/alcohol/sex) environment. And it’s really scary.”

Join us on Sunday evenings from 6:00pm – 7:30pm starting February 21st and concluding March 28th for this very important video based Bible Study on parenting. Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott (as seen on Oprah and Focus on the Family) provide the video based teaching with Pastor Kathy Miller leading the discussion. Need child care? Let Pastor Kathy know and she will make sure that we have quality child care in our refurbished, incredibly clean and safe nursery/toddler room at Seminary Church.

4. Don't forget to bring your Palm Sunday Altar decorations tomorrow!

5. Our first cross for our Holy Week Journey to Hope series is outside! Take some time to see what our worship committee is up to in inviting the community of Roanoke to be in prayer with us during the Holy Season of Lent.

God bless you all that thank you for your commitment to Jesus Christ and His Church!!

See you tomorrow! Peace, Pastor Kathy
