I'm about to hop in my Rav4 and head over to South Bend for one of my last rehearsals with Vepser Chorale for the concert coming up on Saturday evening. It's been a wonderful year with Vesper - my third year singing with the group. The group is composed of professional and semi professional singers and we sing under the direction of the founder of the group Dr. Wishart Bell. I sing second soprano in the group and am the only soprano singing in the group who is not a professional singer. I call myself the "semi" of the sopranos......not always the best feeling in the world. Anyway, my insecurities not withstanding, (and I have plenty, trust me on that) I love singing with this group and performing the type of music we are so blessed to be working on. If you have never heard John Rutter's Mass for the Children - well, you have missed a little bit of heaven here on earth! We are also singing Robert Ray's Gospel Mass and some pieces written by Durufle...chantlike pieces that remind me of cathedrals and high mass. The Vesper Chamber Orchestra will be performing with us and the Michiana Children's Choir - fun! The Chamber orchestra consists of professional musicians who perform in the South Bend area - many of them with the South Bend Symphony.

So, I'm off........if you have a few spare hours on Saturday evening, let me know and I'll get you directions to St. Matthews Cathedral in South Bend.....a lovely, lovely place to sing and one of the most gorgeous churches in Indiana! If you like excellent music, sung and played by a bunch of people who love God and love to give God glory through music, St. Matts is the place to be on Saturday!

Peace and joy to all! Kathy
