Greetings! I'd like to catch all of our Seminary Church family and friends up on what is happening at Seminary Church this week.





1. As you probably already know, early last week a devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the country of Haiti leaving a human death toll in the tens of thousands, incredible property destruction, and human injury, and suffering in it's wake. The United Methodist Church has a very strong presence in Haiti sending many mission teams each year and long term missionaries to care for and bring the hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Haiti. If you have been following my facebook posts, you know that a 9 member mission team from 2 United Methodist Churches in Indiana were unaccounted for until contact was made on Friday morning. Thank God they are all ok and we pray for all of those who are still missing! Tomorrow in worship we will have an opportunity to give to the Haiti relief effort through the United Methodist Committee on Relief. Checks can be made to UMCOR with Advance #418325 Haiti Emergency in the memo line. Checks can be put in the church's offering plate or mailed to UMCOR, PO Box 9068, New York, NY 10087. 100% of gifts made to this advance will go to help the people of Haiti.

2. Excitement will reign supreme tomorrow in our Seminary Worship Service as we will be joined by Shirley Woods and the children and youth of the Euell Wilson Center celebrating the gospel through music and dance! This is always an exciting time at Seminary Church and we are excited to welcome them back to our sanctuary this Sunday. They will be joining us for our monthly potluck after worship tomorrow, so be sure to bring extra food to feed the kids!





3.. Mark your calendars for Febraury 13th and make sure you attend our 1st Annual Youth Valentine's Day Dinner with entertainment! Michael V. is cooking, the youth are hosting and serving, the downstairs fellowship hall will be decorated for the evening, and our entertainment will be some well loved Broadway Theatre love songs! Join us for an evening of fun and love! Proceeds from the dinner will go to support our camper scholarship program.

5. Our youth leader, Cheryl and I sat down on Thursday at lunch to discuss and plan a Seminary Confirmation Experience for our youth this year. Parents of youth who are confirmation age will be receiving a letter from me in the next couple of weeks explaining confirmation and our plans. This is an exciting time for Seminary Church and their youth! A big thanks goes out to Cheryl, Cara, Michael, Mike, Nancy, Keith, Valerie, and others for their support and time given to the youth! It's a great group!
