It's another beautiful day in Roanoke; the sun is shining and the air is clear and a bit crisp. It's hard to believe that our children start school next week. Where did the summer go?
I took a look at the church calendar this morning and realized that we have quite a busy week coming up. I thought I'd mention some of the things that are happening at Seminary next week to keep you up to date and informed.
Anyone who is interested or planning on helping out with our new youth group, please plan on attending the training session on Sunday after worship. We will be outlining the activities that are planned for this fall, look ahead to future activities for the youth, talk about what we want to accomplish with our youth, and also do some training in safe practices in working with children and youth. The church will be providing the pizza. Join us at 11:30am downstairs in the children's classroom.
At 6:00pm on Sunday, the church will be holding another one of those wonderful "Sunday Night Sings"! Warm up your vocal cords, put on your dancing shoes, and get ready for some fun!
Harmony Circle is having their annual summer outing on Tuesday, August 11th. Questions? See Pam Sagers.
Ruth Circle is meeting on Tuesday, August 11th at 7:00pm at Lisa Pape's - 2102 E 600 N in Roanoke. Ann Spahr will be the leader.
Don't forget to bring in Pepsi products (in cans) and/or water for the Taste of Roanoke on Satuday, August 15th. If you would rather give money for the purchase of the drinks, see Cheryl Britt or Marilyn Fleischman.
Our children in the Huntington School System go back to school on Thursday, August 13th. Let's all be in prayer for their safety and that massive amounts of learning and maturation will happen for the kids. Make sure that you also keep our teachers in prayer.
Finally, our youth group has purchased a Wii system and is getting ready for the first youth meeting on Sunday, August 16th from 5-7pm in the youth room. Please pray for this effort. And go give Cheryl Britt a hug and ask her how you can help out. She is putting hours and hours into making sure the kids have a safe and spirit filled place to be on Sunday evenings.
This Sunday we will be looking at the "Psalms of Disorientation". If you have ever thought that there are things that you can't say or admit to God, I pray that this Sunday will change your mind. We can't hide anything from God, so we might as well tell him how we are feeling, what is happening to us and the way we feel about what is happening to us.
See you Sunday! Kathy
How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I bear pain in my soul, and have sorrow in my heart all day long? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?
Psalm 13:1-2
