Today at Annual Conference Rev. Adam Hamilton senior pastor of the Church of the Resurrection in Leewood, Kansas held a teaching session on church leadership and outreach, preaching, and the future of the United Methodist Church. He started off by telling us some pretty sobering statistics about the declines in worship attendance and membership in our churches and went on to speak of ways we can help to revitalize our churches through excellent preaching, worship, outreach, and mission. Rev. Hamiton combines a thinking faith with an incredibly creative mind that speaks to our current culture the unchanging gospel message and the radical call of discipleship for our lives and for the church. It was an incredible time of learning! I hope to bring home a DVD of the session so that I can share his teachings with all of you.
It's been a 13 hour day filled with learning, fellowship, connecting, and worship. I'm tired and am going to bed. I hope to write more tomorrow! Peace, Kathy
